Modern Day Translations of Punk/Grunge
Last night the Metropolitan Museum of Art kicked off their annual gala for the Costume Institute exhibit. Every year the MET hosts an extravagant themed event and this year the theme was punk.
Celebrities were found wearing metallic detailing and crazy head pieces such as the one seen on Sarah Jessica Parker.
While punk and grunge have very different attitudes, both stem from the core foundation of rock and maintain a nonchalant attitude. Grunge strips down every aspect of rock, literally with distressed denim, in order to portray a 'just rolled out of bed' appearance whereas punk reflects more anger than indifference. Regardless, both trends have edgy feels to them and are making a come back from the 90s.
