Grunge Designers
Gosha Rubchinskiy: Gosha Rubchinskiy takes inspiration from Russian youth and skateboarding to design cut-off sleeveless tees and easy pullover sweaters. Rubchinskiey mixes punk-like texts and graphics with dark colors to complete his look.
Shaun Samson: Samson's line emphasises oversized sweaters with plaid flannels underneath to create a recreation of Nirvana's 90 style. The rock meets skater style creates an overall look of true 90s grunge.
Rihanna for River Island: In February 2013 Rihanna presented her line for the clothing brand River Island. The line mixes girly silhouettes with an effortless grunge style.
Dries van Noten: For the Spring of 2013 Dries van Noten took grunge and made it high end by changing the materials of the designs and incorporating different details. For example, instead of creating the typical plaid button down, van Noten used sheer fabric to give a more feminine look. Dries van Noten also incorporated florals into his designs.
